Recovering from Type III disc extrusion
My 6 year old labrador dog suffered from a Type III disc extrusion in March 2006 which left him with his back legs paralysed and with limited toileting ability. He is now well on the road to recovery and can walk unsteadily and pass urine on his own with no manual help. He has always been able to pass soild matter but it was a case of having no ability to 'hold on' until he was outside. I have overlooked this in the past, but now he will go for a walk or be in the garden and as soon as he gets in the car or comes in the house will have a bowel movement. I am concerned that he now thinks this is the norm. My problem is that I don't know if he is still having a problem with control or if he just needs re-training? Any thoughts or advice would be welcome.
